Welcome!

Welcome to my blog, Spice and Nice! I take time to appreciate the things I do not know and to learn from the things I do. You will find poetry, lots and lots of poetry, recipes, ramblings of my insanity, and the occasional post on the importance of relaxing far, far away from other people.

Some days, I will unfold my thoughts and share my distress, other days, I will write to encourage you to keep going.

I take pride in the words that I put down and wish to be a source of encouragement and odd laughter. I am a huge fan of cooking good food and laughing with lovely people. My poetry and recipes attest to that.

I hope you find inspiration in my words while moving forward.

    March 20, 2020 by

Thank you for joining me for another episode, this week I talk about pasta and just a few rumblings in my head at the moment. Part of the reason why I do this podcast is to talk to myself for around 30 minutes or so, or it could be because I love talking about food.… Read more

  • A Note On Consideration

    March 17, 2020 by

The world is shaking at this moment, but rather than talking about the apparent ramifications that have befallen us. I rather talk about something that we can control—food waste. There are so many people going into stores to do nothing more than panic buy, causing a wave of hysteria and wasting the food they hoarded… Read more

  • Rocks On Riverbeds And Tumbling Shores

    March 10, 2020 by

When I was younger, we used to go down to the riverside and skip rocks. My siblings, and sometimes, a myriad of cousins would join us all yelling and run at full speed along the dirt road. We would often forget our shoes, small children practicing small acts of defiance against their parents.  We were… Read more

It is International Women’s Day all around the world today, and I am happy! I love celebrating people and their achievements; it makes me happy when they overcome their obstacles. So what should we do? How do you celebrate the women in your life? Obviously, I don’t mean the people who have mistreated you or… Read more

Mother, I hope that you are well I remember lullabies And the subtle feeling of love There were never any hugs Jabs of pain from disappointment On your birthday when no one had any presents You would smile  Understanding you were less Forgotten in your role Loving and kind Never really saying no But now… Read more

  • March On: March Goals and Hopes

    March 3, 2020 by

A new month has begun with its hopes and dreams; I find myself looking on as an observer, rather than one who participates in such action. In simpler terms, I have watched the people around me grow and evolve, while I poke the world with my stick and complain. Yes, it is cold, and there… Read more
