Resentment

The resentment builds
They told me it would come
After the long days
And sleepless nights
You would come to hate me

Between the I love youand how could you
I can feel the tension in the air
You despise me don’t you

Your eyes roam the room
Looking for my silhouette
You are just a friend of mine

Deep desire crawls forth
Angry words line the walls
Shouting into the voided eyes
The rage builds

It starts to rumble
A slap across the face
Mouths hung open

Your resentment shows

Like the wound on my face.
