Turmeric is a beautiful baby. It has strong colors and a poignant smell. When dried, it can be used to season meats, color pastries, or to add the much-needed flavor to curry.
I have a love-hate relationship with turmeric. I love the smell but having it raw has made me question my existence. That was a joke, it did not make me question my existence but it did make me recoil. My mother likes to tell me to just bite into it and it will solve all of my problems. True, turmeric does help with inflammation which can cause you a whole world of hurt, but it’s not a cure-all.

You can check the caution section to learn about who should not eat too much turmeric.
For this recipe, you may have to think twice whether or not you can stomach all the things that are mixed together. It is just three ingredients, but they tend to give off a strong odor.

I also want to point out that this is a very Jamaican thing. I mean very! You may not get the context, but where I grew up it was common practice to pick several random plants and boil them into a tea. You would then add some brown sugar and chug it down. Every now and then you would have an allergic reaction to the plants but it seems like we never really learn.
Note of Caution
Turmeric in high amounts can cause problems for those who suffer from iron deficiency.
Avoid Turmeric if you are trying to conceive as it can lower sperm count.
Do not take turmeric in high amounts if you have diabetes, it can naturally lower your blood pressure and may interact with your medication.
Both ginger and garlic need to be taken in moderation regardless of the individual or unless otherwise instructed by your doctor.
