Take What is Left of Me

Take what is left of me

And give it to a friend

My heart was never mine to hold

Not even in the beginning

You carved it out

Of my chest

Wore it as a decoration

As you declared my love

Useless

Take my pride

And rip it to pieces

I am now a cruel woman

As life is a cruel mistress

So I shall walk these streets

Taking what was taken from me

My pride

My heart

My love

I shall claim them

In the sheets

In the back of cars

On the rooftops

I will yell to the heavens

“Take what is left of me”

For in return

Then I shall know

The love that hides deep within my soul

A love that knows no end

A love to my only God and friend
