Our Favorite Under $20 Wines

Monday was National Wine Day, and obviously, I have something to say about it.

We love wine, not only to drink but to cook with as well. It goes great in bread, tomato sauces, alfredo sauces, and even cookies and cakes.

Sweet white wines go well in bread, cakes, and cheese sauces, while reds taste good in red meat marinades, tomato sauce, and spaghetti.

No two wines are the same, and I’ll be the first to say that I do not have a wide variety of knowledge of how some wines are different from other.

I have only tasted really expensive wine on rare occasions, and the notable difference lies between how light the wine tastes on your palate and whether it has a deep flavor or bubbles.

If you compare Sutter Home Moscato to WinkingOwl Moscato, you will definitely be able to tell the difference in quality. Not only is there a price difference, but there is also a quality difference.

WinkingOwl is costs less and tastes better than Sutter Home.

Since we are normally on a tight budget for finding affordable wine; this list serves as our go-to for dinner parties.

The Favorites

Baci Dolci

Baci Dolci "Sweet Kiss" a delicious red wine with hints of chocolate.

This wine is the best sweet red wine I have ever tasted. It is bought monthly in this house and for a good reason too. It’s a sweet red with hints of chocolate. Alcohol+Chocolate! How is that not a yes? You can drink it on its own or have it with some lamb.

This wine was found at our local wine shop, but we were also able to find it online.

Santero Moscato Mango

Santero Moscato & Mango. A light sweet white wine

We picked this beauty up for less than $12 at our local wine shop. It has a delicious mango flavor and it leaves a tingling feeling in your mouth after you drink it.

It is a great addition to spaghetti sauces and marinades. It is normally sold out so be sure to get it while you can. Santero’s Peach Moscato is also very tasty.

Petit Chocolate

Petit Chocolat a delicious red with a chocolate base

If you read my recipe from last week about that delicious chocolate cake, this is the beauty that I added to it. The flavor is so rich that you can use it in hot chocolate and any other recipe that calls for a little “liquid courage.”

We found this at Aldi’s and will definitely be stocking up on it for years to come.

I want to make a note about this wine because it is indeed sweet and has an alcohol proof of 14%, which is a bit higher than the less expensive wines.

Cantina di Casteggio Moscato

Cantina di Casteggio Moscato A lovely white wine with rich fruity notes

We had this wine at my favorite Italian Restaurant in Atlanta, Ga. Not only does Pasta da Pulcinella never disappoint my taste buds, but they have delicious wines to complement the food.

This one was light and went great with veal.

I want to note that it is a sweet wine but not as sweet as the other Moscatos on the list.

Well, there you have it. This is our wine list for the moment. We may expand it to a longer list or put together a list once a month. If you want for this list to become a monthly list where we try new wines and tell you what we think about it, then leave a comment and let us know.

We appreciate you stopping by and hope this post will help you to understand a little bit more about wines. For those who do not drink but still took the time to read this post, then THANK YOU!!!

As always, my friends, stay happy, stay healthy, and keep moving forward.

Do you have any type of suggestions for writing short articles?

That’s where I constantly battle and I simply wind up staring empty display for very long time.

Find an angle that you want to pursue, this can make coming up with an idea very easily. If you want to talk about health, you can choose an angle that focuses on how meditation is good for your health. Hope this advice helps.
