The Coaxing of a Fae

Little girl

Listen to my voice

Take a jab at the old winding road

Come and join me

For I am oh so alone

No kin, nor company will come to call my own

Little girl

Listen to my voice

Come and play a jig for me

You may dance and spin

As much as you like

But when the clock strikes 12 you must take flight

For there are dangerous things

In middle of the night

Things that might eat a little girl

All in one bite

You must come and visit me

On the morrow’s full moon

Then we can sing together

In the depths of my tome

Little girl

Be not afraid

I am a just an old woman now

Yet an old maid

My skin has gone wrinkly

And my eyes are bad

So little girl visit me

When the nights have made me sad

When the skies begin to cry

And the earth has gone cold

Little girl

Listen to my voice

And lend me your soul
